FAQ attending an amanita tea and breathwork ceremony

Amanita Tea Ceremony & Breathwork FAQ

What is Amanita?

The tea served in ceremony is made from the mushroom Amanita Muscaria, a psychoactive mushroom that has been used in traditional cultural and ceremonial contexts for centuries. Unlike psychedelic mushrooms that contain psilocybin, Amanita has a different energetic and physiological profile, working primarily with the GABAA receptors through the chemical compound muscimol. Many people experience it as grounding, dreamlike, introspective, and supportive for deep nervous system relaxation and inner exploration.

Is Amanita safe to drink?

When prepared properly and offered in intentional ceremonial amounts, Amanita tea can be a supportive tool for introspection and nervous system regulation. All tea served in ceremony is carefully prepared and intentionally dosed in micro form. Safety and participant comfort are always prioritized. However, Amanita may not be appropriate for everyone. If you have certain medical conditions, are pregnant, or are taking medications, it is important to consult with your healthcare provider before participating.

Will I hallucinate?

Most ceremonial servings are intentionally moderate and do not create hallucinations like a psychedelic mushroom would. Remebering that Amanita Muscaria is psychoactive and not psychedelic.

Experiences tend to be subtle to moderate and may include:

• enhanced body awareness

• dreamlike or meditative states

• vivid inner journeying

Every person’s experience is unique. The breathwork portion of the ceremony can deepen awareness of what is already present in the body.

What if I have never done breathwork before?

No experience is necessary. The breathwork portion is gently guided and accessible to beginners. Participants are encouraged to move at their own pace and listen to their bodies throughout the process.

Why combine Amanita tea with breathwork?
